Tomato Against Prostate Cancer
Pubblished bykageja
The Prostate cancer is the most prevalent form of male malignancy. Almost a pandemic. Only in Italy are diagnosed every year from 36000 to 42000 new cases, and it is estimated that one of each 7of Italian men will develop, SOONER OR LATER, A PROSTATE CANCER!
Perhaps in the war we are fighting against this silent murderess from today we have a new weapon. A weapon that is a frequently guest of our tables, it is him: Mister Tomato.
Hidden in our beautiful tasty red fruit is hidden, in fact, secret but interesting beneficial properties that can preserve the prostate (and its owner ...) from the development of cancer.
The news are beyond the "conventional wisdom, which always identifies the tomato beneficial properties for health, and is based to a large British study of the renowned University of Bristol, Cambridge and Oxford that has had the honor of being published in the authoritative international magazine medical "Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention".
According to this research men who CONSUME THIS USUALLY VEGETABLE RACING A LOWER RISK OF ALMOST 20% OF PROSTATE CANCER.
Scientists have come to these results by monitoring the diet and lifestyle of well 20 thousand boys in the age at increased risk for prostate cancer: between 50 and 69 years. It has thus been observed that those who consumed 10 or more servings of tomatoes a week had more than 18% less probability of getting cancer prostate compared to those who consume lower amounts.
Additionally, contrary to what is often supposed, COOKED TOMATOES WOULD NOT MISS THIS CHARITY feature. This is because it is eaten raw, cooked or as juice does not matter: to make a difference is in fact a substance found in tomatoes. The Lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that can protect the body from cell damage that unlike many substances contained in fruits and vegetables, it preserves a good bioavailability even after cooking.
So the king of Mediterranean cuisine would have the great advantage of reducing inflammatory factors involved in cancer development and to delay the development. Not only that, but it is also observed that men who consumed five or more servings per day of fruits and vegetables had a lower risk of developing the prostate cancer by 24% compared to those who are used to eat two servings or less.
The study, in fact, found that in addition to lycopene also selenium (found in pasta and bread) and CALCIUM and VITAMIN D (found mainly in milk and dairy products) are protective against prostate cancer.
Substances contained in many dietary supplements normally sold in our pharmacies (purely by way of example: Aprosten, Profluss, Novixon, Forprost, Cistiprost, etc.) but (certainly more tastily ...) we find in "our" ever-green Mediterranean Diet!
